DA’s Mafia #3: Bloodshed and Deceit
It’s time for a full revamp on mafia. And for that? Well, we’re going to look at another universe. One without a school dedicated to card games…
There was a town. This town was reasonably successful in its trade and growth, and despite being relatively small, it was still a nice little place. However, one day it ran into some quite serious debt. The mayor of the town turned to every place he could for some honest help, but none came. As the situation grew increasingly dire, he felt he had only one choice. He contacted the mafia, and asked for help in supplementing their economy. While it had a price, it was a price they could afford to pay in crops and land space. And the town flourished, the mayor being the only one who knew he had done some shady deals. But when the time came, and the town was back on its feet? Naturally, he wanted to remove any evidence of the transactions ever occurring. He broke of his deals with the mafia. They felt they had a foothold in the land. They weren’t going to cease “trade” that easily. They did not leave, but instead? They had undercover townspeople. The trading had gone on for many years and through all that time, there had been mafia secretly inside the town. This was their chance. They decided the time was right, and they would start killing off the town members one by one until they had full control over this small area. In the meantime, however, other townsfolk started to act weird. Some experiencing… mental difficulties, while others picked up guns determined to protect themselves against anyone who tried to hurt them. This is no card game tournament. This is outright war. This is
”Rules” :
The rules of this game are quite simple. There are 3 factions- Mafia, Town and Neutral. The Town win by killing all evil people (mafia and evil neutrals), whereas the mafia must kill the entire town and also some specific neutrals. The neutrals all have their own win conditions, which vary between being killed in a specific way, to being the last one alive.
During the day, a lynch may be performed, and discussions take place. To vote to attempt to lynch someone, include “/lynch *person’s name* at the end of your post. When 5 votes have been gathered on one person, a lynch is locked- however, it does not necessarily proceed. That person will then have until the end of the day to try and defend themselves against what other people are saying. During this period, you should PM me your verdict of “Guilty” or “Innocent”. At the end of the day, anyone who has not voted in this manner will count as having abstained. I will then reveal who voted innocent, who voted guilty, and who abstained, and, if there were more guilty votes than innocent votes, that person will be lynched.
Certain roles have night actions. These night actions are performed by PMing me during the night with your target and what you wish to do (some roles have multiple options). The night action will then go through. During the night, no one may post in the topic or talk to each other, unless they are a specific role with the ability to do so. The mafia, the cult, and the masons may talk with the other members of said groups during the night.
You must be active to play this game. If you do not post or use a night action for 3 days, you will be killed by some inexplicable reason. It may (and probably will) be some derpy embarrassing reason as well. Being killed in this manner will also make you lose 500 DP.
When someone is killed, their true role will be revealed. You can only really trust yourself in this game- unless, of course, you find someone who distinguishes themselves as town in some way. Then again, some mafia roles can very easily claim their town counterparts…
Everyone on the winning team gets 2000 DP. The MVP of my choice will also get 5000 DP and be allowed to use the userbar.

The roles:
”Mafia roles” :
The Don: The don is the main killing role and the leader of the mafia. Once per night, the godfather can kill someone, however only one kill can be made by the don and all henchmen per night. The don is immune to night kills, and when investigated will act like an inactive citizen. This role also cannot be roleblocked. There may only be one don, and the role cannot be remembered by an amnesiac.
Investigator message: “The target does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary. They are probably a survivor or a citizen, but might even be a don hiding his true allegiance.”
The Consigliere: The consigliere may choose someone to investigate every night. They will be given their exact role, rather than an investigator message. The consigliere becomes the don if the don dies.
Investigator message: “The target seems to have a lot of investigative gear and has skill in examining people’s abilities. They are probably an investigator or a consigliere, but could be a detective.”
The Consort: The consort may choose someone to roleblock every night. This means that they will not be able to perform their night action. The target will be informed that they were roleblocked.
Investigator message: “The target spends a lot of time in public toilets. They are a consort, an escort, or a janitor.”
The Janitor: The janitor may choose someone to clean at night. If the target dies, their role will not be revealed publicly, but they will be informed of it. They can only do this action 4 times.
Investigator message: “The target spends a lot of time in public toilets. They are a consort, an escort, or a janitor.”
The Framer: Once per night, the framer can select a target to frame. For this night, if they are investigated they will show up as a mafia role regardless of their actual role. An investigator will see them as a citizen.
Investigator message: “The target seems intent on convincing you that other people are evil. They could be an executioner or a framer, but they might actually be a sheriff.”
The Blackmailer: Once per night, the blackmailer can select someone to blackmail. The blackmailed target will not be able to speak or vote during the next day, however if put to trial they may say “I have been blackmailed” and nothing else.
Investigator message: “They know all your secrets. Even that one you thought no one knew about. They might be a blackmailer, but could also be a stalker or a lookout.”
The Stalker: Once every 2 nights, the Stalker may choose to stalk someone. They will be informed of anyone their target visits, and anyone who visits their target.
Investigator message: “They know all your secrets. Even that one you thought no one knew about. They might be a blackmailer, but could also be a stalker or a lookout.”
A Henchman: Any mafia member can choose to turn into a henchman on any night. A henchman can kill someone once per night, however only one kill can be made by the don and all henchmen per night. A henchman has no other night action. A mafia can turn into a henchman and immediately kill, however the don’s decision overrides those of any henchmen if applicable.
Investigator message: “The target is an expert in killing people. They could be a henchman or a serial killer, but could also be a vigilante.”
”Neutral Roles” :
Serial Killer: The serial killer can kill someone every night. They are immune to night kills. Anyone who roleblocks them is killed instead of their target (regardless of whether or not they had one.) The serial killer wins if they are the only person left.
Investigator message: “The target is an expert in killing people. They could be a henchman or a serial killer, but could also be a vigilante.”
Arsonist: The arsonist can douse someone’s house in petrol every night, or kill everyone they have previously doused. This attack ignores all immunity and healing. They are immune to night kills. The arsonist wins if they are the only person left.
Investigator message: “This person is crazy, brave, or stupid. They could be a jester or an arsonist, but may be a heroic bodyguard.”
Mass Murderer: The mass murderer can choose someone’s house to lurk at. Anyone who visits their target will be killed. If they kill more than one person in this manner during a night, they must wait another night before performing the action again. They are immune to night kills. The mass murderer wins if they are the only person left.
Investigator message: “This person owns a lot of weapons, which appear to have been used on many occasions. They are either a mass murderer or a paranoid veteran.”
Witch: A witch can choose a target to control for the night. As well as stating the person they will control, they also choose another target. This will be the new target for the first person. The target will not know that they were controlled, and their night action will resolve against the new target, regardless of whether or not the first target was going to use their night action. The witch wins if they live outlive the last town member.
Investigator message: “The target owns a lot of sharp knives and medical tools. They could be a doctor or a witch, but they could even be a witch doctor.”
Survivor: A survivor has only one goal- they must survive till the end of the game to win. They can win alongside any winning side (except those that need to be the last man standing). During the night, they can choose to put on a bullet-proof vest. This will make them immune to death for the night, but they can only do this action 3 times.
Investigator message: “The target does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary. They are probably a survivor or a citizen, but might even be a don hiding his true allegiance.”
Jester: A jester is a crazy person whose life goal is to be killed by being lynched. The jester will win alongside the winning faction if they are killed in this manner. When they are lynched, one of the people who voted guilty will randomly commit suicide
Investigator message: “This person is crazy, brave, or stupid. They could be a jester or an arsonist, but may be a heroic bodyguard.”
Executioner: An executioner will be given a target at the start of the game. This target will always be town aligned. The executioner wins by having this person lynched during the day, and can win alongside the winning faction (regardless of whether or not they survive.) If their target dies during the night, they become a jester. The executioner is immune to night kills.
Investigator message: “The target seems intent on convincing you that other people are evil. They could be an executioner or a framer, but they might actually be a sheriff.”
Cultist: All cultists can talk to each other during the night and know who each other are. During the night, they can choose someone to recruit to the cult. If they recruit a mafia or a mason, the action will fail. If they attempt to recruit the mason leader, the cult member who tried to recruit him will be revealed to him. After a successful cult conversion, the cult must wait a night before attempting to recruit another. The cult wins by eliminating all town, mafia, and evil neutral roles.
Investigator message: “The target meets with a group of people at night. They could be a cultist, a mason, or even an amnesiac seeking help.”
Witch Doctor: A witch doctor is a cult-aligned role. Once per night, they may target a cult member to heal them if they are attacked, or target a non-cult, who will be healed if attacked. If a non-cult who is not immune to conversion is healed in this manner they will be immediately recruited to the cult. The witch doctor may only target a non-cult 3 times.
Investigator message: “The target owns a lot of sharp knives and medical tools. They could be a doctor or a witch, but they could even be a witch doctor.”
Amnesiac: An amnesiac cannot remember what his role is. As an amnesiac, his goal is to survive till the end, and he can win alongside any other faction (except those that must be the last man standing) in this manner. However, during the night he may choose to remember a dead person’s role. This replaces his role of amnesiac with whatever role he has remembered, and he gains its win condition and night actions. He can remember town, neutral or mafia roles in this way.
Investigator message: “The target meets with a group of people at night. They could be a cultist, a mason, or even an amnesiac seeking help.”
”Town Roles” :
Citizen: A citizen may choose to put on their bullet proof vest at night, making them immune to death for the night. However, they only have one use of this ability. Also, if, at the end of a day, the only people remaining are a citizen and a mafia, then the town win instead of the mafia.
Investigator message: “The target does not seem to be anything out of the ordinary. They are probably a survivor or a citizen, but might even be a don hiding his true allegiance.”
Sheriff: A sheriff may choose someone to investigate at night. They will be told whether the target is mafia, serial killer, arsonist, mass murderer, cult, or not suspicious.
Investigator message: “The target seems intent on convincing you that other people are evil. They could be an executioner or a framer, but they might actually be a sheriff.”
Investigator: An investigator may choose someone to investigate at night. They will be given their corresponding investigator message.
Investigator message: “The target seems to have a lot of investigative gear and has skill in examining people’s abilities. They are probably an investigator or a consigliere, but could be a detective.”
Detective: A detective may choose someone to investigate at night. They will be informed of who that person targeted.
Investigator message: “The target seems to have a lot of investigative gear and has skill in examining people’s abilities. They are probably an investigator or a consigliere, but could be a detective.”
Lookout: A lookout may choose to watch someone at night (including themself.) They will be told the names of all people who visited that target.
Investigator message: “They know all your secrets. Even that one you thought no one knew about. They might be a blackmailer, but could also be a stalker or a lookout.”
Doctor: A doctor can choose someone to heal at night. If their target is attacked, they will be healed and will survive the attack. Both the doctor and their target will be informed of the attack. A doctor’s target may also not be converted to cult. If a doctor is converted to cult, they become a witch doctor.
Investigator message: “The target owns a lot of sharp knives and medical tools. They could be a doctor or a witch, but they could even be a witch doctor.”
Escort: The escort may choose someone to roleblock every night. This means that they will not be able to perform their night action. The target will be informed that they were roleblocked.
Investigator message: “The target spends a lot of time in public toilets. They are a consort, an escort, or a janitor.”
Vigilante: A vigilante may choose someone to kill once per night. They can only do this 3 times.
Investigator message: “The target is an expert in killing people. They could be a henchman or a serial killer, but could also be a vigilante.”
Mason Leader: The mason leader can talk with the other masons at night. He can also recruit someone at night, and replace their role with mason. He can only recruit citizens or town members who have used up all of their actions.
Investigator message: “The target is a natural leader, and is a well-respected member of the town. They are the mason leader, the mayor, or the marshall.”
Mason: A mason can talk with the other masons at night.
Investigator message: “The target meets with a group of people at night. They could be a cultist, a mason, or even an amnesiac seeking help.”
Bodyguard: A bodyguard can choose someone to protect at night. If their target is attacked, the bodyguard will die instead, and kill the attacker as well. This kill pierces any immunity.
Investigator message: “This person is crazy, brave, or stupid. They could be a jester or an arsonist, but may be a heroic bodyguard.”
Veteran: A veteran may choose to go on alert at night. Anyone who targets them while they are on alert is immediately killed; however they may only go on alert 3 times. Veterans are immune to roleblocking.
Investigator message: “This person owns a lot of weapons, which appear to have been used on many occasions. They are either a mass murderer or a paranoid veteran.”
Mayor: The mayor may reveal himself during the day by including “/mayor” in a post. When this is confirmed, his votes count for triple for the rest of his life. However, the mayor is immune to being healed. There may only be one mayor, and the rolw cannot be remembered by an amnesiac.
Investigator message: “The target is a natural leader, and is a well-respected member of the town. They are the mason leader, the mayor, or the marshall.”
Marshall: The marshall may reveal himself by typing “/marshall” in a post. When this is confirmed, a group execution will occur. 3 people can be lynched and killed, however they will have no defense- they will be immediately killed after 5 votes have been gathered. (if there are 7 or less people, then the number of votes required for this lynch becomes half of the remaining number of people rounded up.) There may only be one marshall, and the role cannot be remembered by an amnesiac.
Investigator message: “The target is a natural leader, and is a well-respected member of the town. They are the mason leader, the mayor, or the marshall.”
Sign-up sheet:
Skype name: (Not necessary but HEAVILY HEAVILY RECOMMENDED. Get one.)

Time zone: (This will be ignored XD)
The roles list:
The roles list will give you an idea of what roles will be in the game. During the signup period, they will have a DP number next to them. If you wish to buy said role, you can PM me to say you wish to buy it, and it will not be part of the randomisation- you will receive that role during the actual game. However, specific roles are generally more expensive than the randomised ones, although roles considered more fun will also be expensive. To make it all less suspicious, no DP will be removed until the end of the game. However, you must have the required amount of DP when you say you wish to buy that role. If multiple people try to buy the same role, then the people after the first will be informed that they cannot purchase the role because it has already been bought. To avoid gathering suspicion for having bought the role, you can buy a role before signing up. Just tell me you intend to sign up at a later point.
The roles available to buy are those that will appear in the game. This list will be shown throughout the game, and will change every game. I will add more roles to this if the signups exceed 17 people, however these are likely to be more randomised roles. Please note that roles can come up more than once in the same game unless otherwise stated.
