Industrial Illusions welcomes all students to the Duel Academy Card Genesis Competition! 

------------------------------------------------

In this tournament of the wits, you will be asked to create a set of cards for a specific set of criteria that will change each week, 


Rules:

1) Only one submission per user, so make it count!


2) Written cards are accepted alongside card images.


3) If submitting card images, make sure to also post the written effect, as to make it easier for judges to read.


4) Please try to use decent grammar when writing cards, this won't be strictly enforced, as we are aware that English is not everybody's native language, but please don't be simply lazy with it. Problem solving card text is also very helpful in understanding a card, see the following link: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Problem-Solving_Card_Text


5) You may edit your cards up until the deadline of the competition


6) Please make sure to read the judging criteria for this event, it is rather important.


7) No copy-pasting the effects of existing cards, make it interesting people...


Theme: Create your own archetype! No other criteria besides that, so have some fun with it!




Deadline: Sunday the 28th of August




Prizes:

Winner: 1500 DP + A place for your submission in the genesis competition archive
 Runner-Up: 750 DP

Judging Criteria:

Naturally, it is of the utmost importance that we have a set of criteria to determine the best of the pack!


1) Balance: This determines how well you have designed the card, whether it isn't over/under-powered in general and whether or not the card is playable. Basically, don't go overboard!


2) Contest Criteria: This determines how well you have adhered to the contest criteria. For example, if you have been asked to support the FIRE attribute, you need to support them in a meaningful way, not just create a FIRE monster with a random effect tacked on.


3) Originality: Whilst you don't need to make a card something nobody has ever been seen before, it shows some nice creative thinking when you can create a set of cards that aren't simply bland generic effects pasted onto cards (The generic searcher, the graveyard reviver, the one that mills etc... Basically, what Tellars where as an archetype)

I know you said 8 cards, but just for information can we present more then 8? I have an archetype I've always wanted to create and for me 8 cards might not be enough. You can judge only 8 of them tho.

This is going to be a bit difficult for me.  I usually do better with a base.  I've had a couple of ideas for archetypes in the past, but I've never ended up liking them.

My Archetype is Yamimakai (Dark Demon World).  It is based on the cards "Yami" and "King of Yamimakai".  The general theme of the archetype is banishing other cards to gain effects and being banished to gain effects.

So just a couple of things about my cards. 




Firstly I had some more spells and traps but for some reason i can't find them and I'm not really into making them again, so I hope this wont be too much of a problem (I might end up doing them, if i have the chance welp). I have more monster, tho i think they are unneeded to show my idea of the archetype. 




Admittedly I think it turned out too strong, but the general idea is that you can play the deck in a lot of different ways.  You can have a monster spam and utility version where you try to maximise on the amount of xyz and synchros (Later on Fusions as well) to establish a good OTK board. There could also be a version where you can try and bring one of the big gods (Poseidon, Zeus and Hades) ((Or all 3 if you can)) to get an almost unbeatable deck and that is where you might think the deck is overpowered, but you do need a lot of resources to get one of those gods on the field. Obviously the cards may have some flaws (Like not putting a "You can only use the effect/s of ...... once per turn"). 




The deck ultimately tries to combine all of my favorite ways of playing in Yu-Gi-Oh.

Alright, finally got round to finishing this thing off, totally didn't take me nearly a year or anything, shut up >.>


1st Place goes to @DanelerH. I really, honestly love the thought that went into this, including the themes from Panik's deck, the interaction with the old Yami Field spell, and the general interplay between each monster. It's really very nicely done. Only tiny gripe I have is that the field spell itself does nothing negative to Fairy-Type monsters, which thematically I find, should have been the case. It's a tiny gripe though, and Deity really is an excellent Boss for the Archetype.


I'll give the runner-up spot to @Kangaroo-Jolty on the basis that it's quite a charming fun archetype, even if it feels a tad scattered/underpowered archetype.


Pepchoninga your archetype could do with several power debuffs, as there's a lot that needs to be fixed balance wise within the archetype, looping with 2 Achilles, the mass power the Gods have (Parts of the deck really do feel reminiscent of SatellarKnights, the deck even has it's own version of Triverr)


Username, you seem to be missing some vital S/T support for the deck, it feels a tad unfinished as is.
