An early beta of a ygo game that konami recently released,  I haven't tried it myself, thought I'd share.

lel Ygopro being a top dog while Konami can't even make something close to it DAFUQ.

konami has no interest in it cuz the real game and cards would lose weight. open source systems have no official records n stuff so ppl usually dont care but if konami released the game and put some official tournaments loads of ppl would not buy cards anymore but play it online. only reason i can think of that has logical explanation. Things like this one they released, they are testing options for future, who knows what for is this beta testing. they wont release game like ygo online again cuz it failed.

They probably just want to provide a real world experience in an online game. The same way that you would buy actual cards outside is the same way that you would in the game, only with DP. Personally I think that Konami probably doesn't know that much about its open source counterparts, and that would probably be the reason as to why no one will take interest in it, because its idea isn't better than those counterparts. I think, however (even though it might not be in my place, as I'm new here) that it might be a great way to test people coming into the school because it actually forces them to use what they have to come up with strategies(just like in real life.)
