Well, I was dueling this guy in the beta room and he summoned Jinzo. I used solemn judgement and he told me that I couldn't negate him because of Jinzo's effect. I told him that solemn is negating and negating is before the summon and he just argued with me. Can someone tell me who's right? Dx

When you use Solemn Judgment or Forced Back, which are Counter Traps, they activate before the summoning is successful. Therefore, the monster is NOT ON THE FIELD WHEN YOU ACTIVATE THESE COUNTER TRAPS! That means Jinzo CAN be destroyed by Solemn Judgment and can be returned to the hand by Forced Back. However, once Jinzo is successfully summoned, it stops cards like Bottomless Trap Hole that have to wait for a successful summoning before they can be activated.

You can negate it.

Counter Traps: Solemn Judgment have a speed of 3
Continious Monster Effects: Jinzo, have a speed of 1.

3>1 so Solemn Negates Jinzo before its effect even happens.

Solemn Negates Jinzo as it of a Higher Spell Speed -- This is wrong (sorry)
