As someone who isn't as experienced It's preferable that you start with smaller tags. Try 138x180. That was my favorite.

Does are tiny

These are quite big actually. Not even I would be comfortable wasting my time on something this big. A tag is something just about big enough to be viewed in your signature. Having it extra big might reduce it's effects quality in the viewer's eyes.

And how do I get better if I dont get constructive criticism from the public? To change/fix what I'm doing wrong. We all start as skrubs!

As stated above, how do I get better without getting criticism from the public? 

Also, read, I never said I was any good ;D, I just stated I was new at the scene of GFXing. Making me less experience and un-knowledgeable at GFXing.
