The Arena
The arena is, from your point of view, a large dome, with a perfectly flat surface for the floor. However, due to your past experience as a gladiator, you know full well that the round curves of the walls can lower as the arena practically transforms from a lifeless room into a colosseum full of people, shouting and screaming for their favourite to win. The inner workings of the arena are largely a mystery to you, but you're certain they can do far more than the many weird happenings you have seen in your time here.
As you begin to duel, no announcement occurs, as you feared it might. It seems like this duel will be a perfectly normal one. Out of the corner of your eye you see a camera moving in to focus; they haven't forgotten about this duel, but they aren't making that big a deal of it.
You hear the sound of many mechanisms grinding together at once, and know for sure that something is about to happen. Lightning rods appear from the walls, and you jump away as a pillar of flame erupts from the ground in front of you. It looks like it will only get worse.
"Each turn, the turn player takes an amount of damage equal to 100 times the number of turns they have had."
The speaker system becomes active, but instead of an announcement, a painful screeching noise plays at excessive volume. No further explanation is given, but it seems to have driven your monsters into a frenzy.
"When a monster destroys another monster by battle, that monster gains 300 ATK."
The arena moves from its dormant state and opens up to reveal a crowd. You can immediately hear them chanting the word "blood", over and over. A familiar voice comes from the speakers:
"It would appear that the crowd want blood. Off with your armour, then."
"Both players will start with 6000 life points rather than 8000."
Before you could even shuffle your decks, an announcement from the speaker system echoes through the whole of the arena, and the area around you unfolds to reveal a crowd, all seated and waiting for your duel.
"It looks like we have a heated duel lined up for you here, ladies and gentlemen. But I'm sure we could heat it up a little more. Cheer them on, and watch their monsters fight to the death!"
The crowd begin screaming and roaring, and it seems to have an effect on the monsters in your deck.
"All monsters must attack, if able. During the End Phase, destroy all face-up Attack Position monsters the turn player controls, that did not declare an attack."
The second that the challenge is issued, the speaker system becomes active.
"I've been a little bored with the quality of dueling recently, and since you've so kindly decided to take your fight to the arena, I think I'll have a little fun."
"Roll 3 more dice on this table. Apply all results. Count duplicates, including any 6s, as a result of 1."
