First topic message reminder :

Welcome to Duel Academy's Quiz!

Concept is pretty simple. There is a widget named "DA Quiz" on the right side. You click on "Take Quiz!" and the awesome quiz pops up. Make sure your browser does not block pop ups. You read the question, give an answer and click on "Send" button.

So what is the purpose of this Quiz and what do you get from it? You have fun, check your skills, either with "let me google that for you" or with knowledge you got, and of course earn some DP ::like a boss::

Answers will be stored in this topic and staff will check them. Member who gives the correct answer first gets the reward in means of DP.

Amount of DP will be written in the quiz so you know what you can get from it and is it worth for you or not. When the question(s) are answered the quiz continues with the new ones and keeps rewarding the fastest that knows the answer Smile

DO NOT POST IN THIS TOPIC IF NOT SENDING YOUR ANSWER WITH QUIZ.

To put it shortly, priority ensures the turn player's spot at Chain Link 1 when summoning a Monster with a Spell Speed 1 effect. Once the effect is activated, priority passes to the opponent, allowing him to respond, thus starting a Chain. Priority then goes back to the turn player, and once a player passes priority, a chain can resolve.

Basically the right for the player to ensure his/her spot when activating a effect to have the spot of chain link 1. A player can only call priority on his/her turn.

the turn player can use effect as chain 1

Priority can be defined as "A player's 'right' to be able to activate his/her effect, ensuring its spot on Chain Link 1." Priority does not allow players to automatically activate and resolve effects without a chain; it simply assures a card's activation (not resolution), and guarantees a place on Chain Link 1. How the chain resolves is up to the players.

Priority tells you who can activate an effect at any certain point in the game. Note that cards never have priority'; it is the players who have priority. The Turn Player always starts with priority.

Example 1Duel Academy's Quiz [Archived] - Page 11 YH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3DEdit

Player A has a face-up "D.D. Warrior Lady". He Sets a "Bottomless Trap Hole" and ends his turn.

Player B Special Summons "Chaos Sorcerer".

Player B, now being the turn player, says he wishes to retain his priority to activate the effect of "Chaos Sorcerer". The Ignition Effect of "Chaos Sorcerer" then activates, targeting "D.D. Warrior Lady". The effect of "Chaos Sorcerer" is now Chain Link 1. Player A then activates his "Bottomless Trap Hole", since the Special Summon of "Chaos Sorcerer" was the last action to have resolved on the field. "Bottomless Trap Hole" is now Chain Link 2.

The chain now resolves in reverse:

  • Chain Link 2: "Bottomless Trap Hole" resolves. "Chaos Sorcerer" is destroyed, and banished.
  • Chain Link 1: The effect of "Chaos Sorcerer" resolves. "D.D. Warrior Lady" is now banished.

Always remember that Monster Effects, unless they specify otherwise, can have their effects resolved without being present on the field.

However, this is only in the TCG; the OCG ruling was changed on March 19, 2011.

● Before revision The Ignition Effect of a monster can be activated at the timing a monster is successfully Summoned (including Flip Summon, Special Summon).

● After revision The Ignition Effect of a monster cannot be activated at the timing a monster is successfully Summoned (including Flip Summon, Special Summon).

Example 2Duel Academy's Quiz [Archived] - Page 11 YH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3DEdit

Now take the same scenario, but instead of "Bottomless Trap Hole", we can use "Book of Moon" as the example.

The resolution of this chain works as follows:

  • Chain Link 2: "Book of Moon", targeting "D.D. Warrior Lady" resolves, flipping "D.D. Warrior Lady" to face-down Defense Position.
  • Chain Link 1: The Ignition Effect of "Chaos Sorcerer" tries to resolve, but since his target is now face-down, his effect disappears, because "Chaos Sorcerer" can only banish face-up monsters.

Example 3Duel Academy's Quiz [Archived] - Page 11 YH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3DEdit

Yet another example of priority can be seen in this example:

Player A ends his turn with a face-up "Mystical Elf" and a set "Trap Hole".

Player B Normal Summons "Exiled Force". Since "Exiled Force" has an Ignition Effect, Player B can use priority to activate its effect, which becomes Chain Link 1. However, the Cost of the effect of "Exiled Force" is to Tribute itself. Since costs are mandatory to activate a card (not resolve the effect), the cost of "Exiled Force" is immediately carried out. "Exiled Force" is removed from the field, and Player A's "Trap Hole" will no longer have a monster to resolve its effect for.

Passing PriorityDuel Academy's Quiz [Archived] - Page 11 YH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3DEdit

One can pass priority by simply stating "I pass priority".

Optional Trigger Monster Effects, like "Mobius the Frost Monarch", are not Ignition Effects, so their effect(s) can only be activated when the condition that triggers them was the last action to have resolved on the field.

Priority will automatically be passed to the opponent if the Summoned monster has a Compulsory Monster Effect, like "Raiza the Storm Monarch".

Priority is also automatically passed when the Turn Player declares an end to any Phase.

ExceptionsDuel Academy's Quiz [Archived] - Page 11 YH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3DEdit

Turn Priority normally cannot be ignored. However, if the opponent has a card that must be activated at a specific time, such as the Standby or Main Phase of the opponent's turn, these cards can be activated even if the Turn Player has no cards to play at that time. If the card is played during the end of the Main Phase the opponent has passed up their opportunity to play their card first. However, a replay can be demanded for any other situation if the Turn Player wishes to play a Chain Link 1. To avoid this dispute, it is etiquette to ask the Turn Player if they would like to play a card during a respective phase (as declining to play a card results in passing their Priority to the Opponent).

- stops attack (if attacking)
- negates effect monster from getting its effect.
- if the monster that is attach is destroyed, destroy this card.
- currently (i think) is like $20-30 range
ex. stops lightsworn monsters from milling cards to get Judgement dragon faster
eevee

You can negate monsters effects.
Example: Player A controls Blue-Eyes White Dragon and a face down Fiendish Chain, Player B controls Wind-Up Zenmaines, Player A activates Fiendish on Zenmaines, then attacks with Blue-Eyes targeting Zenmaines, he can't discard to save Zenmaines and destroy Blue-Eyes.
Also it keeps the monster from attacking.

Example: Player A has am Elemental HERO Flame Wingman (uncommon I know) with Skyscraper, Player B has a Dancing Fairy in Defense Position and a face-down Fiendish Chain, Player A enters Battle Phase and Player B activates Fiendish on Flame, saving Fairy and gaining 1000 LP next turn.

So it can help you save your cards, help you destroy your opponents stronger monsters, and just stall for time needed to get the right cards. (Sorry if the Examples where a bit long)

Fiendish chain stops mosnters effect and stops them from attacking so is can be usefull in many way
example 1 - F-cahin VS any inzektor mosnter - opponet has hornet in grave and has dragonfly in hand, while you have a set and ready F-chain. opponet summons dragonfly and activates effect you can then chain fiendish chain to it and stop it from doing the loop.

example 2 - fiendish chain VS a high ATK monster - lets say you opponet has just brought out raviel cna doyu hvae a set and ready F-chain. opponet goese to BP and decalres a attack with raviel, wll be damag step you activate F-chain to stop it from attacking

so as we see here fiendish chain can sop pesky effect mosnters like inzekotr dragonfly, or wind-up hunter

it can also stop high beast sticks from severly damaging you life points.

so over all fiendish chain is perfect ofr main deck or side deck and can work on quite alot of monsters

1a. Most of the time, the worst scenario for this card is being a one-for-one trades, and in the other time it's a +x.
//Except when this card is heavy stormed with other S/T
1b. When this card is chained to negate an effect that has cost, it's a +1.
2. This card doesn't have an activation timing, so even if your dimensional prison/Fiendish Chain is negated by Solemn Judgment, you can still activate a Fiendish Chain before entering damage step to stop the attack.
3. Compared to veiler/forbidden chalice, this card's effect lasts until this card is removed from field as opposed only until end-phase.
4. Compared to Divine Wrath, this card's effect doesn't have a cost at any sort, and also able to negate a continuous effect.
5. It can be chained to negate the effect of some popular-annoying-fag-negating-card like SQD, LSS-Shi En, Dolkka, Laggia, I.Roach, LaDD, Mist Valley Apex Avian, Naturia Synchro (except Barkion(unless when your opponent have no card in grave duh)) and so on...
//oh wait, Apex Avian isn't popular but w/e.
6. Being Continuous Trap card, it can be bounced by brionac, dewloren, Mist Valley Falcon, Mist Valley Thunderlord etc, once it has negate an effect that only activate once (something like Monarch/WU, etc) or as a fodder for Magic Planter.
7. We live in the format where the Dominating Deck mostly focus on a loop of an effect monster, and once it's disturbed, they'll probably need at least next turn to regain pace(Mostly Inzektor and Wind-Up).
//Don't trust me on this, I'm on my way to hiatus from dueling

Negates the effect of an opposing monster (pretty much every monster used has an effect of some sort, most of which can be deadly one way or another), and even if it doesn't stop an effect (in cases involving Normal Monsters) it makes it so the selected monster cannot attack, protecting your monsters from an onslaught in cases involving a very powerful monster.

Fiendish Chain's effect allows you to select 1 face-up Effect Monster on the field, negating its effect and stopping it from attacking. Even though its only the lowest spell speed, as long as your opponent has nothing to counter it, it should be able to prevent an effect from taking place (at least in my prior experience it has). This is especially useful for stopping potentially game-winning cards such as Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon, which can hit for 3000 Direct Life Point damage. If the target was flipped, for example Man-Eater Bug (assuming that it is NOT during the Damage Step), and Fiendish Chain is activated, the Flip Effect will activate first, then Fiendish Chain, resulting in the chain resolving backwards and the Flip Effect being negated. It can also help destroy monsters that usually cannot be destroyed by battle, for example Marshmallon, by negating its effect. It can also be used on your own monsters to remove any unwanted or disadvantageous effects, such as allowing Blackwing-Vayu the Emblem of Honor to be used properly in a Synchro Summon. Since Fiendish Chain is destroyed when the equipped monster is destroyed, it will remain on the field when the monster is Tributed since tributing does not count as being destroyed. So it can be used in combination with cards like Giant Trunade to return it to your hand and recycle its effect.
