Welcome to Duel Academy's Quiz!

Concept is pretty simple. There is a widget named "DA Quiz" on the right side. You click on "Take Quiz!" and the awesome quiz pops up. Make sure your browser does not block pop ups. You read the question, give an answer and click on "Send" button.

So what is the purpose of this Quiz and what do you get from it? You have fun, check your skills, either with "let me google that for you" or with knowledge you got, and of course earn some DP ::like a boss::

Answers will be stored in this topic and staff will check them. Member who gives the correct answer first gets the reward in means of DP.

Amount of DP will be written in the quiz so you know what you can get from it and is it worth for you or not. When the question(s) are answered the quiz continues with the new ones and keeps rewarding the fastest that knows the answer Smile

It can negate monster effect (Flip, Trigger and effect that activate on the field). Acting much like a Skill Drain but only affects an effect monster you select. It can potentially stop a trump card the opponent may have or kill a loop. You can also use this on your own cards to prevent them from backfiring or remove unwanted effects(Use Fiendish Chain on a 1900 Barbaros and boost it to 3000).

It can be easily chained or used as a chain effectively negating flip effects or chained with another card as a combo. It also does not have activation timing so you can use it, meaning you can activate it before the damage step to prevent an attack even if you already used cards such as Mirror Force.

It stays on the field if the monster it is attached to leaves the field through means other than being destroyed. Therefore, you can return and re-use it with Giant Trunade, Dewloren and other cards.

It does not really have a cost and you can just use it unless negated or destroyed and so last until it is destroyed instead of just the end phase.

Because it negates an effect monster not being able to attack, and it stops them from using there effects. but the drawback is, that u dont remove if they use the monster as a syrncho to get rid of the monster.

Not only does it stop a traget monster from attacking but it also negates its effect which makes it even more useful. For example you can stop Stardust from stopping your Heavy Storm or REDMD from spec summoning more high level dragons which is very common lately.

prevents the activation of a monsters eff continuously keeping the card and the duelist at bay especially if its their trump card but the downside is it doesn't work on Gemini monster being treated as normal monster

Ok here is my answer.

This format, there’s a lot of important monster effects going off. People have opted for Effect Veiler since it can be activated from the hand, but Fiendish Chain gains distinct advantages over it since it acts more as protection on your monsters, instead of stopping the opponents progression. Fiendish Chain can be a huge deterrent on the opponent when set behind a problem monster. By problem monster, I mean a monster that is a problem for your opponent to deal with. They usually lock out your opponent’s options with their effects like Stardust Dragon, True Six Samurai Shi’En, and Naturia Beast. Those, for example, really lock out spells and traps very well, meaning the opponent will need to use monster effects or attacking to remove your monster. Fiendish Chain nearly perfectly deals with both problems. The monsters lock out spells and traps making it hard for them to remove Fiendish Chain before you activate it, as well as making a very difficult simple lockdown on the opponent.

There’s a lot of big Boss Monsters floating around this format: Master Hyperion, Archlord Kristya, Black Luster Solider, Chaos Sorcerer, Dark Armed Dragon, and Judgement Dragon to name a few. Sometimes just stopping their effects isn’t going to stop them in there tracks. If you were to just use Effect Veiler on Hyperion, there’s still the fact that it’s a 2700 ATK point monster. Fiendish Chain helps you deal with that by also negating attacks. A lot of the time, an opponent summons a Boss Monster intending to use it to kill a big monster you control. With Fiendish Chain, you not only stop them from killing your Boss Monsters, you use your Boss Monsters to clear out the opponent after theirs fail to even attack over yours.( e.g. You have a Chaos Sorcerer and the opponent attempts to kill it with Hyperion. You use Fiendish Chain, allowing you to use Chaos Sorcerer‘s effect on Hyperion next turn, unless they waste a couple extra cards to kill Sorcerer – which is also good too.

There’s also one last interesting way to use Fiendish Chain. Fiendish Chain is only destroyed when the monster it targets is also destroyed. That means that if the monster it’s targeting is removed in any other fashion, it remains on the field. Say they Synchro with it and you remove that monster from play with Caius the Shadow Monarch or Chaos Sorcerer - it’s still there. You can use it as fodder for other cards effects, things like Scrap Dragon work especially well with this, making it a hit in Scrap Decks. You can also use if for Magic Planter, which sends a face-up Continuous Trap you control to the Graveyard to draw 2 cards, or even recur it to use again with Blackwing Zephyros the Elite or Mist Valley Falcon. With these last two it works especially well since you can return Fiendish Chain to your hand before you destroy a monster it’s targeting to save it from its destroying effect on itself, making for nearly constant effect and attack negation.

this is not true.
Spirit Reaper's Continuous Effect is applied after the effect that targeting it finish resolving. Spirit Reaper won't self-destruct if it was targeted by veiler/chalice/fiendish chain because when he applies his continuous effect, those card will negate the effect. (unless if your fiendish chain is chained by MST).

And Fiendish Chain won't stop stardust's effect either actually, because stardust tribute himself, then fiendish chain will lose the 'connection' when stardust's effect resolve. Fiendish Chain works differently compared to veiler and f.chalice.

lastly, fiendish chain doesn't prevent monster from activating their effect. A monster affected by fiendish chain may activate it's effect just fine, if during resolution that monster is still affected by fiendish chain, the effect will be negated.

I'll just see how far I go with this, as I've been hit by negating effects that pretty much decided the game (haven't all experienced that xD)

Fiendish Chain is useful because, for starters, almost every new monster comes with an effect. It doesn't negate everything (like the oh-so-elusive Stardust Dragon) but it's helpful to at least side 2-3 of these babies. It's very much like Nightmare Wheel from long ago, with some major differences.

-Nightmare Wheel doesn't negate effects, while Fiendish Chain does

-Nightmare Wheel stops your opponent from changing that monster's battle position and has a little burn effect on the opponent. Fiendish Chain is left face up on the field if that monster leaves the field (unless it's destroyed), while Nightmare Wheel leaves with the monster, under any condition.

Both are similar in that the targeted monster can't attack. But yet, why is Fiendish Chain better? Effects these days tend to be very nasty, and Nightmare Wheel can't stop them. Fiendish Chain does and, depending on the person, leaving a card face up on your back row long after it served its purpose is well worth the price for stopping an opponent's game-changing strategy.

Let's try this scenario. I'm a Nordic player, and it won't come as a surprise later when I keep using monsters from that theme in my examples. I just managed to tune my monsters for Thor, Lord of the Aesir. He has a nasty effect that negates the opposing monsters' effects. How can you stop him? Simple. Chain Fiendish Chain to his Ignition Effect. We all know (hopefully) that once a Chain has been created, the last effect to be activated resolves first. So Fiendish Chain will negate Thor first, and Thor will resolve his effect with nothing happening. What's more, that useful little Trap prevents him from slamming that giant hammer on your conk. Yay.

And while it does not work on Continuous Effect monsters like Naturia Bamboo Shoot and Jinzo (as they both stop it from activating), it definitely works on pesky cards like most Inzektors, Marshmallon, Injection Fairy Lily (outside the Damage Step), Brionac, and Utopia.

In my opinion, it's not as good as cards like Effect Veiler, who can negate even cards like Jinzo. But if you wanna stop your opponent from making a big finish, then opt for Fiendish Chain.
