First topic message reminder :

Warning: Before leaving after you see the long paragraph of typing, you need to know this, DA might get shut down for this. I posted this so this can get your attention to fight back if you want to save DA from shutting down.

well as you may or may not know, our so called government is trying to pass out a bill called SOPA/PIPA. Which this will eliminate anything that contains copyrights or infringement in their websites. Which means Youtube will be down! Facebook will be down!(which i dont really care for much) Google might be down! We dont know how much power our government has on the internet but don't you think this act is against the constitution that we all fought for? Are we going to end up like China? Are we going to let this happen? Right now as we speak MegaUpload, our number one fav site for downloads for anime and stuff, has SHUT DOWN! FOR REAL! check it out and be shock. 7 were arrested, few killed, and 3 or so escaped. A famous group of hackers known as Anonymous is now working their way to stop this injustice that has been taken from our freedom. Right now they just hacked into government websites one after another and telling the government this is only the beginning! Be prepare people of DA that one day (or i hope this will never happen) that this website might be endanger by this bill. Please lets fight back and gain back our freedom of privacy and speech. Lets show these politician that whatever they are doing is the total opposite what the citizens of the United States are asking for and hope that DA won't ever get shut down.
THIS IS FOR REAL GUYS!

Comment, chat and discuss on how you feel about this.

in all honesty ... the bills wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so.... broad.

ACTA is going to be worst, and it's not just a "scary thing no one cares about". This may actually greatly affect how we browse through our web as we speak. Imagine this, every time you talk to someone or send someone a small little file (may it be a song or a little ringtone). That information at the moment you press that enter button or send button goes through what I like to imagine, "The highway of the internet". As your information goes through those highways, your internet providers (Comcast, Verizon, etc.), has the ability to see what you send and what everyone else sends. That's when they say, "Hey, this bro-ski here is sending a song to a friend. Let's fine and arrest these bros." Both of you are now convicted of a crime and sent to jail for who knows how long.

I don't think anyone wants anyone to know that everything we do on the internet is being monitored by the government. No more such thing as privacy, maybe your high-score on solitaire, but other than that, no much is left.

I think due to SOPA and the huge rejection by the public ACTA isn't happening, at least not anytime soon. Britain has already backed out and have started to support the "private internet rights" kind of thinking. SOPA and PIPA have shown Canadian, American and whetever other governments that the internet isn't something they have the right nor will to control and enforce.

Rejections from the public doesn't matter if 39 political leaders have already signed the act. It's more likely to pass when most of the world wants it passed. The rich isn't going to care what the poor wants. It's what 'they' want, what 'they' think is right. The only way we can get out voices in is when we join in numbers and protest/petition on what we have to say. The government in the other hand can just get their word in by simply talking to any of their buddies and they can work something out. We actually have to work to get we think is right done. Which I think is pretty stupid, 10 million people's thought is equal to 1 congressman/senator's thought.
