Blackwing - Kalut the Moonshadow and Doomcalibur Knight

I had an argument with a player about what happens when Doomcalibur is on the field and Kalut's effect activates from the hand. His argument was that Doomcalibur negates any effect period, and mine was that Kalut activates in the hand and Doomcalibur affects the field. Who is right?

He is right, DCK is able to negate Kalut effect. DCK is like War Chariot. He can negate Gorz/Trago .. anything that activates, it doesn't matter whether its on field/hand/grave.

Correct Also note that DCK's effect can also be activated in damage step.
