Ever wondered how to make Domain Monarchs work at least a fraction of what they used to back in their prime? Well, Milan Taipe hits top 4 in Nicaragua with Domain Monarchs with what might normally be questionable techs.
This deck questions things you might think you know about Monarchs as a deck (especially after they hit everything), as you wonder why certain things are there, or how they work, well for some of you people who look at the surface of the deck at least. Here I'll go into explaining some of the options of the deck:
(1) Thestalos the Mega Monarch - Normally not run in Monarch decks (or at least in my experience; perhaps it is normal) Thestalos is good for running for the first turn. Use this card to reduce the cards your opponent can use in their hand by one and give yourself 1 less card to worry about. Generally not useful seeing later on in the duel, this card is at 1 since it's best to only see at the beginning, and that's after you search him out albeit "Erebus the Underworld Monarch" does the same, but better (it never hurts though to have 1 extra card that gets rid of your opponent's playability a bit).
(2) Caius the Mega Monarch - This card makes for great spot removal, being non-destruction; pulling off the ability to banish 2 cards isn't hard in this deck, and the burn damage for 1000 is a fun bonus to add on. This card's copy removal may also be useful in certain match-ups such as Altergeist; by banishing "Altergeist Multifaker" you can remove their best playmaking card and hit them hard. (Also adds itself to the pool of cards that can be banished by "Allure of Darkness").
(3) [Main decking the 1-of "Radian, the Multidimensional Kaiju"] - Radian is an interesting card to help you get rid of opponent's boss monsters. Use it to tribute "Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King" to help you get rid of what the deck normally can't deal with, or banish it with "Allure of Darkness" after you draw better cards.
(4) Vanity's Fiend vs Majesty's Fiend - Vanity's Fiend, while unsearchable, makes for a good floodgate, that completely stops decks like Pendulum Magician and other Main Deck special summoning decks that your "Domain of the True Monarchs" wouldn't be able to completely stop. Vanity's Fiend also adds the value of being a DARK monster, stacking with some interesting interaction with "Allure of Darkness", "Caius the Mega Monarch", and "Caius the Shadow Monarch".
(5) Kaiser Vorse Raider - As previous cards have been mentioned as, it's a DARK target for "Allure of Darkness", but what makes this card special is the fact that is brings itself onto the board without using a tribute nor a Normal Summon. Use this card as tribute fodder for your Monarchs, or just use it to build up its attack (though the former is the best option for this deck).
(6) Jinzo - This card is searchable through "Return of the Monarchs" and makes a good card to counter decks such as Altergeist and Paleozoic. Did I mention it's a DARK monster?
(7) Artifact Lancea - Unable to run normal negates, this deck utilizes Artifact Lancea to prevent it to autolosing to a card like "Evenly Matched" or to prevent certain plays that would be made by ABC or True Draco decks.
(8 ) Trap Eater - This card helps remove face-up Trap Cards that would normally be in your way, while also doubling as a body to be tributed for a Monarch monster. Also, I have an unhealthy obsession with DARK targets.
(9) Imperial Iron Wall - This card is for the same purpose of Artifact Lancea, but a floodgate in the form of a Trap Card, so it is not merely negated by a "Called By The Grave" and makes it more awkward for your opponent to remove.
