With his back still turned, the merchant rotates his head a full 180 degrees to look at you, and says one word.
"Catch."
What he tosses you is a great silver wing, but you barely get the time to look at it before he pulls out some kind of laser cannon armour and slots it over his arms.
"Hold still."
Before you have an opportunity to move, he leans backwards, arms still rummaging through his sack, and fires a great laser beam right at you. Only, instead of killing you in your weak state, no damage seems to have occurred. The feather in your hands is now grey.
"That's what that one does. You have to be holding it, though, and it'll only work once every now and again."
He clicks his fingers on all of his hands at once and suddenly the wing is silver again.

Silver Wing: One-handed.
Once per battle, you can completely negate any amount of damage taken in a single attack or ability. (Only one attack, rather than the entire damage taken in a round. So, if you took 3000, 6000 and 12000, you would want to negate the 12000.)

"Oh, and the rod."
He pulls out a fairly tall staff with 2 of his arms. With another 2 of his arms, he starts rummaging and seems to find what he's looking for quite quickly. It is a green pot with smiling yellow teeth and narrow eyes depicted on it.
"Would you mind holding this?"
Somehow, he turns his body 180 degrees without moving his head and approaches you, handing you the object.
You suddenly feel a compulsive urge to steal it and run away. Shortly after you consider this, he smacks the great staff on the ground. The pot explodes. A few shards seem like they might hit you or the merchant in the moment, but they veer off quite unnaturally and miss.
"Any questions?"
The shards of the pot begin to reform themselves as the merchant scoops them up and dumps them back in his sack.

Rod of Silence Kay'est: 2-handed
Reduce any incoming damage by 50.
Once per battle: Target an enemy's magical item and disable it for the duration of the battle.

I am interested in the Silver Wing.  What would you consider to be an acceptable price for it?

"Oh ho ho, 'acceptable price', you say? Perhaps you have never bartered before. But I shall give you the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps on this occasion you might pay me with some of your memory, or, perhaps, perhaps... Might it be too early in our relationship to trust me with your soul? Yes, no, it was silly of me to suggest it. Memory, memory seems like a good idea. That's a renewable resource for your kind, right? That, or perhaps a shiny trinket of your own?"


(If you take the memory option, he wants all of your mega-experience, effective immediately. Which is fine if you win this battle. Really not fine if you don't.)

Very well, then.  I will trade you my memory for the Silver Wing.

The merchant smiles, and, after putting back any excess magical items and closing his sack, begins drumming his 3 pairs of hands against each other.

"Very well then."

His second right hand extends a finger and points at your forehead. At first, you feel nothing. Then, for perhaps a split second, there is a burning, as though something is exploding within your mind. Something is being ripped away from you and you can hear it screaming. It ends. It is no longer there. You do not know what was screaming.

"The wing is yours. Have fun out there."
He smiles again. This time, when he speaks, he accentuates every syllable.
"I value your custom."

With that, he fades, as does the yellow around him. Suddenly, you are back in a battlefield, with a goblin attack force about to charge you down. In your left hand, you are holding a silver wing.
