k so one of my hobbies is to take non-meta decks and try and make it so they can squash infernoids like the little bugs they are (i really dont like that archetype) and so my new project is a Red Nova dragon deck, now ive been testing for a little under a week and it has roughly a 60-75% win rate on advanced, but it could use ALOT of work and im out of options.

Competitive Red Nova Deck SBUfNos

So this deck is Very straightforward, and to my suprise its been very constant with summoning red nova within one turn or two, but the thing is once hes out on the field hes helpless, now ive tried adding some protection, in case someone tries to overpower him, also in case of some annoying monster effs, i added red dragon vase because usually summoning red nova takes about 3-4 cards in your hand, so i thought itd be nice to not have so few options, the reason i added re-cover is because with emergency teleport its basically a free one-for-one, and in this deck thats a huge plus, flame swordsman is there cause hes SUPER easy fodder for archfiend, (plus joeywheelah4life) and i put in vulcan the divine, because there were a few times were i only had cyber dragon and a level 1 tuner for a few turns and the only thing i had to stall with was red screen, and while its a great card, i like to keep my LP at a maximum, i added beelze, hot red, stardust, and crimson blader in case just pounding my opponent with red dragon wasnt doing the trick. Before i had starlight road, but that card was just clogging up space and hardly anyone played mass destruction cards. And i know what your thinking, yes this deck is capable of pulling 3 Red Novas, they arent in there just for show, i should know, in about 4 turns i had 2 red novas out and was on my way to summoning the third. Plus in case one red nova was gone i wouldnt have to worry about the next one.

So there is the deck, i know it needs ATON of work which is why ill be grateful for any and all suggestions.

Why not take on a more Psychic approach?

Telekinetic Power automatically provides the 2 Tuners needed and Psychics have an incredibly easy time summoning level 8 Synchros. Not to mention they can summon Naturia Beast/Barkion as well, which gets rid of most problem cards for you.

(Mind Over Matter is a Solemn Judgment at 3.)

It really depends on how you play them. I remember being able to summon a successful Naturia Beast + Barkion + Stardust on the first turn with a reasonable success rate (about 60%), while other turns always involved me being able to do something to set up combos.

Psychics aren't an archetype, so a Psychic deck tends to have a more combo oriented playstyle.

Overdrive Teleporter is your main guy and sets up all your plays, though you are free to run him in any amount. I prefer 3 because I like to abuse his effect fast and hard.

Brian Research Lab gives you an additional normal summon, so that speaks for itself.

Esper Girl
Serene Psychic Witch
Hushed Psychic Cleric

^ Those 3 should be your main combo pieces. Read their effects and you should get the general gist of how the deck would play.

Silent Psychic Wizard
Psychic Commander
Psychic Jumper

^ These 3 are support. Wizard serves as that one additional banishment in case you run out of Cleric or for whatever reason need a Level 4/etc.

Psychic Commander will be your main Tuner, aside from Esper Girl.

Jumper cos he's pro.

Example of a simple combo:
Overdrive Teleporter + E-Teleport + fodder

1. Use Tele and summon Esper Girl.
2. Tribute Esper Girl for Overdrive Teleporter.
3. Activate Overdrive and summon Cleric + Psychic Commander.
4. Activate Cleric and discard your fodder, banish Esper Girl.
5. Synchro a Level 6 and Cleric will activate, getting you an Esper Girl.
6. Synchro a Level 8 with Esper Girl + Overdrive.
7. Esper Girl will then add the card she banished to your hand.

^ That combo will get you 2 Synchro Monsters onto the field without having lost any card advantage.

They are able to counter quite effectively as well. Esper Girl and Mind Over Matter combo too well and is essentially just a free negation. Barkion, Beast and Stardust able to effectively knock out anything troublesome while you have Red Nova out.

Only problem I think you would have with the deck is that it may not be able to summon Red Nova out as fast as you would like. A Psychic deck isn't really dedicated to purely Red Nova, which could be good and bad, depending on how you look at it. You're free to run many techs in a Psychic deck as well, so I wouldn't be afraid to test some random cards that may or may not work.

The New Red-eyes black Dragon / Archfiend support should make this deck a little more competitive.
with:

Red-Eyes Lightning Lord – Evil Archfiend,
 Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon,
The Black Stone of Legend,
Red-Eyes Fusion, Black Dragon Archfiend.

Also Consider this card:

(it's a promo card, dn't get hyped) but it exists

Konami made a rank 0 xyz monster so why the fuck not make a level 0 synchro monster

Competitive Red Nova Deck UltimayaTzolkin-VJMP-JP-UR

Ultimaya Tzolkin
LV0
Dark Dragon
Synchro
Effect

This card is treated as Level 12. Cannot be Synchro Summoned. Must be Special Summoned by sending 2 Level 5 or higher monsters you control that has the same Level (1 Tuner and 1 non-Tuner), and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways.
Once per turn, when a Spell/Trap Card(s) is Set on your side of the field: You can Special Summon 1 “Power Tool” Synchro Monster or Level 7 or 8 Dragon-Type Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck.
While you control another Synchro Monster, this face-up card on the field cannot be targeted by attacks or card effects.

Atk 0 / Def 0.

It brings out Red Dragon and Hot Red Dragon Archfend Easier.

You realize that he wants to win by summoning red nova not just spam synchros guys ? Two level 5 monsters 1 tuner one non tuner and to set a spell/trap so easier than summoning an 8 lol :D

Anyways when soulcharge was at 3 I tried to make a red nova deck with plants and stuff but its limited now ... Divas were really good when they were at 3 but meh they arent anymore.

Now I was thinking about some mill engine with 3 tuning for unknown synchrons and junk synchrons + destiny hero malicious and plaguespreaders.

Problem with this deck is that everyone who runs rank 4 monsters will just crush you with castel,101,honest is at 2 also not to mention that popular traps right now are vanity, wing blast, compulse, karma cut.

Conclusion you cant build a Red nova meta deck you can add red nova as an option to a heavy synchro deck and summon him when you know your opponent cant deal with him.
