FEATURED DECK #2
Edward's Chaos Zombies
Today we're taking a quick look at the deck that has propelled Edward to a 4-3 record that should land him in the Top 16. He's reviving an old deck and adding in some firepower to make it metaworthy. This is Edwards Chaos Zombies deck!
Edward chose to play Zombies, because he had no desire to play the typical meta, and based on a referral from his teammate, Sasuke, he ended up choosing them. Overall, he's been happy with the results, but has apparently had some runs of bad luck when it comes to getting bad hands in game 3 of matches, which has cost him all 3 of his losses (although note this means he has never had a 0-2 loss). So his claim is that the only thing his deck fears is itself, and that no matter what meta he's against, his deck can take it down! Let's see how he backs that up!
Edward runs a full 3 copies of Call of the Haunted. Why, you might ask? The answer is because when you only have 1 copy of Black Luster Soldier and Chaos Sorcerer, being able to simply revive them at will allows you to feel like you're running a full 3 copies of each! Additionally, since it's a Zombie deck, the extra swarming means he doesn't need to use up his Mezuki and Plaguespreader Zombie effects right away. Being able to save these effects for later can create longer summoning combos in a single turn, or can allow him to continue to control a slower duel without losing steam. His favorite combo is to summon Chaos Sorcerer and remove a monster, then summon Plaguespreader Zombie and bring out Scrap Dragon, and then continue the abuse by using Call of the Haunted to bring Chaos Sorcerer back to the field to abuse his effect again! This is a fairly simple and common combo that requires only Plaguespreader Zombie in the grave (where it always should be) and having Chaos Sorcerer in-hand or on the field and a set Call of the Haunted.
Edward's favorite techs for the deck have been his 3 mained copies of Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter along with Compulsory Evacuation Device and a sided Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo.

Edward's deck deals with the meta by being very flexible, which is something Zombies have always been known for. His deck is able to respond to many different situations effectively and does not have a singular end-all win condition that he always aims for in every single duel. Instead, he runs a deck that is reactive to his opponent's strategy. Even his cards in the Side Deck are not made to hard-counter specific decks, but are also very flexible and can be used to shift his deck's weight to respond against multiple opponents, rather than simply expecting specific opponents. He also runs a nice mix of Synchro and Xyz cards in his Extra Deck and muses that if he only had 5 more spaces in his Extra Deck, that no meta deck would ever be able to stand against him.
And that wraps up this presentation of Edward's Chaos Zombies!
