Hey Everybody.
What's up ?! I hope you've adapted to new cards released in KCVDS from SOVR/ABPF...what do i hear ?! No, you haven't...I can see why.Being late by a couple of sets then suddenly you find yourself infront of more than 200 cards, each unlocks a new way of using cards is a bit tough.
Well chill..As today we're going to discuss an archetype which shined lately because of the huge support they got with the release of the "Structure Deck : Machina Mayhem".Hopefully, this article can help ya adapt with this deck.
Ok let's have a look at our tournament-worthy cards this structure deck brought us.

Machina Gearframe. 1800/0.Level 4
[Deck Review Article] District 9 -No Humans Allowed- 2jeut95
"When this card is Normal Summoned, you can add 1 "Machina" monster, except "Machina Gearframe", from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can equip this card to a Machine-Type monster you control as an Equip Card, OR unequip it to Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. (A monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time. If the the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead.)"

This card is a defenitely great free +1 whose effect works instantly on being normal summoned searching you any Machina monster from your deck. This card is muscled with 1800 attack which makes it smacks the field as one of the most famous monsters of the game ; "Elemental Hero Stratos".With 1800 attack it'd be able to run over most of the opposing popular monsters from all top decks.

In addition to its search effect, you can use its union ability to attach it to any other machine type monster to save it from being destroyed once,This combo won't be quite helpful but it's a nice trick especially when used with "Limiter Removal".Just attack with your Limiter-boosted Machines, and in main phase 2 strap Gearframe to whatever monster you want to keep around. When Limiter destroys all your Machines, the one Gearframe's riding around on will survive
.

Machina Fortress. 2500/1600. Level 7
[Deck Review Article] District 9 -No Humans Allowed- T00zrt
"You can discard Machine-Type monster(s) whose total Levels equal 8 or more to Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, select and destroy 1 card your opponent controls. When this face-up card you control is targeted by an opponent's Effect Monster's effect, look at your opponent's hand and discard 1 card from their hand."

This is the deck's shiny boss monster. Most players use Gearframe to search for this card.
"What's so special about having this card in the hand, EJ ?! It's another useless level 7 machine type monster"
Hell NO !! You must have missed that you can Special Summon from your hand or your graveyard by discarding Machines from your hand totaling 8 Levels or more.Fortress' first effect destroys one of your opponent's cards if it's ever destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, this will make your opponent think twice before destroying this card by battle.
that's not everything. As its second effect lets you look at your opponent's hand and discard one card from it whenever fortress is targeted by any effect..this means two things,First you'll know all your opponent's options whenever they target your monsters. And Second, It makes cards like gale and murmillo turn to have partial disadvantage to your opponent.

"Still fortress is -1 when summoned this way"
Well here comes the coolest part about fortress, since you can Special Summon it from the graveyard, you can discard it for the cost of its own Special Summon. If you have Fortress in your hand with another Machine, you can pitch both to Special Summon the Fortress you're ditching. Even if your Graveyard is empty at the time, the Fortress you intend to Special Summon can make up 7 of the 8 Levels it needs.

Machina Soldier. 1600/1500. Level 4
[Deck Review Article] District 9 -No Humans Allowed- 5lbdhw
"When this card is Normal Summoned while you control no monsters, you can Special Summon 1 "Machina" monster from your hand, except "Machina Soldier"."

Well there's another way to Special Summon Fortress from your hand without any discard costs.when you Normal Summon the Soldier you can Special Summon a Machina from your hand, and since there's no Level limit on that effect, you can plunk down Machina Fortress for free. However, you should be really careful before doing that as your opponent may take advantage of your -over-extension- and flush a couple of cards at once with cards like oppression, torrential tribute. However, He suffers a bit with his decent attack but remember we're aiming to include these cards in a gadget deck which means you'll have a pretty good lineup of traps to protect your monsters.

Machina Sniper. 1800/800. Level 4

[Deck Review Article] District 9 -No Humans Allowed- 2uqobgh
""Machina" monsters cannot be attacked, except "Machina Sniper"."

This card is kinda underrated atm..it's good stats help it stay on the field maintaining good field presence. It's another 1800 Powerhouse which is easily searchable by Gearframe, it can easily replace Fortress in oppression gadgets as fortress would contradict with the general strategy of the deck. Also its effect protects your machina monsters from getting attacked which is not bad if you ask me.

Scrap Recycler. 900/300. Level 3

[Deck Review Article] District 9 -No Humans Allowed- 20ucvb8
"When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can select and send 1 Machine-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. Once per turn, you can return 2 Level 4 Machine-Type EARTH monsters from your Graveyard to the Deck to draw 1 card."

This card is really helpful despite its bad stats. Its 900 attack can be easily healed with "Solidarity" and i need you to remember that we're running machina gadgets which will be running a pretty good line up of protective trap cards offering you tons of protection for such a card.Time to talk about this card itself, right?
Remember the disadvantage we mentioned about fortress special summon ?! This card solves it all dumpin your graveyard with fortress (allowin you to use its effect) and then recycle other 2 machine-type monsters to give you a free draw. This card can even toss a cyber dragon into the graveyard allowing you to use "Overload fusion" to get the mighty "Chimeratech OverDragon"
This card is just better than it might seem when you first look at it.

Machina Armored Unit. Continous Spell Card
[Deck Review Article] District 9 -No Humans Allowed- 2j45a9s
"Once per turn, when a Machine-Type monster is destroyed by battle and sent to your Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 Machine-Type monster from your Deck that has the same Attribute and less ATK than the destroyed monster."

This is the machine-type's toolbox as it turns all your machine-type monsters into Giant Rats/Mystic Tomatoes letting you Special Summon a machine-type with a matching attribute and lower ATK when a machine is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard. Since the Machinas and the Gadget monsters are all EARTH attribute, you can use this card to toolbox and keep your field presence up, while also triggering Gadget effects to add more Gadgets to your hand.
"To Be Honest, EJ. I don't find it that special at all"
If so then wait to read the best part about this card.Since Machina Armored Unit's effect activates in the damage step, it can make your searched monster escape Royal Oppression, This makes this card fit any oppression matchup and makes you able to run oppression giving you advantage over your opponent making your opponent's monsters opressed him depressed.

I'd like to say that machine decks have recieved great support either by the release of machinas or the new Cybers...But there's still a problem named Chimeratech Fortress Dragon.

Optional Support :

Limiter Removal : Why not ?! They're all machines and i explained before how can you make the most out of this card using Gearframe helping another machine-type monster to survive

Shredder : This card can dump for you fortress if you can afford using its effect from the graveyard and gives you more targets for recycler. If you ask me it won't really hurt you that bad as gadgets, gearframe, recycler gives you easy +1s

Drill Roid : It's earth attributed with decent attack that can be searched easily by Machina Armored Unit and it got a really great effect helps you overcome high def monsters such as defender, spy *After applying its flip effect* and also toolboxes such as tomatoes,rats..etc

Solidarity : This card can seriousily boost your gadgets to atleast 1900 beatstick monsters making the deck insanely uncontrollable with such great amount of +1s you have.

Ultimate Offering : This deck gets free +1 with gearframe, gadgets so this card would be unbelievably helpful.Especially if you're running solidarity, Imagine summoning 5 monsters per turn whose attack ranges from 1900-2100 which can be worse if you limit removal your monsters.

Deck Variants :

Machina Town : This deck is too aggressive as it can actually swarm the field with 2/3 monsters whose attack range from 2000/3000 atk points. It's a basic machina gadget deck embedded with 3 Copies of Geartown and a couple of Ancient Gear Gladj Dragon, Where gladj dragon is an easy fortress for fodder and can get summoned from the gravyard by destroying your own geartown through your breaker/mst/setting another geartown.however, this deck is abit inconsistent compared to other gadget decks as it gives you some bad draws
Unfortunately this deck isn't able to run any single copy of oppression because it'd screw its whole general strategy.

Oppressive Machina : Although most machina builds ditch oppression for Fortress,Soldier and other swarm cards.this deck has proven to be the most consistent of all because simply oppression rules.there're three types of decks.
1- a deck that focuses too much on its strategy
2- a deck that focuses too much on your opponent's strategy
3- a deck that does both
Guess what ?! this deck does both...After march banlist, Gladiator Beasts, Blackwings *Won't get hit badly because some builds are already using oppression* and Flamvell Cats are the current meta triangle..this deck can easily stop them with the massive amount of annoying trap cards especially oppression.still, this deck can feel the joy of special summoning through Armored Unit and also you'd trigger gadgets for easy +1s.
With Oppression, you can go straight into two of the format's top three matchups with a distinct edge. I simply wouldn't trade that advantage for Fortress tricks.

Deck Example :
It's time to b-b-b-build
"Yay !! It's time to ne-ne-ne-net deck"
Not this time inferno..As Machina decks got so many to build them, So i'll just give you the main skeleton and the rest comes to you.
"WTF !!!? No man,Comeon !!"
3x Gearframe *Duh this is our main Machina Searcher*
2x Of Each Gadget *No Comment*
2x Cyber Dragon *Very Essential card,an easy special summon condition..and can easily get your own chimeratech in mirror matchups*
2x Scrap Recycler *Explained Above*
1x Tragoedia *Essential in every single gadget build*

The rest is actually up to you...as you may run 3x Fortress when you're willing to go aggressive or just one when you're playing oppressive gadgets, you may run Ancient Gear Gladjitron Dragon or Soldiers or Snipers when you want to keep things simple and effective.

3x Book of Moon
3x Smashing Ground
1x Limiter Removal
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Brain Control

Nothing Much...Staples and the rest depends on your general strategy...Armored Unit if you're willing to play oppression so you can have advantage over your opponent, solidarity, geartown are all cards that can be added to customize the deck to your liking

1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
2x Bottomless Traphole
3x Dimensional Prison

That's a 30 card skeleton for machina gadget deck.If you read that article well you should be able to complete it all on your own.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed this article and learned something.
See ya later

Wrong since Drillroid does not stop Flip Effect Monsters. He does not say "without flipping the monster face up".
