The glitch generates a majic beanstalk where it's not supposed to be. Mario isn't stuck in place.
The spawning position allows you to get infinite lives. Infinite lives are nothing new, but I guess the spawning of the majic beanstalk is.

I'm pretty sure they do, otherwise my whole childhood was a lie and that thing i used to use wasn't Atari which in that case I'll have to investigate and perhaps - if required - torture my parents until they give me the answers i want. But I'm sure Atari runs Mario :D

The game they're talking about runs either on the NES or the SNES.

Umm... Atari might run the Mario games where you fought Donkey Kong, but as far as I'm aware, Atari didn't run Mario.

I dunno i remember playing this shit on Atari when i was a little, I'm positive it was Atari. I can see the image in my head with the Atari linked to my old TV while my brother have the 2nd controller that isn't even connected to the device while he though the random buttons he was smashing making the character move.
