FAQ highlights:
Battle City tournaments are Tier 1 tournaments, and attract both casual and competitive Duelists who wish to celebrate the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand and participate in a Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament.
The Battle City Kit is a kit designed to provide tournament prizing to Official Tournament Stores (OTS) that can be adapted to a “league” style format if the players prefer it. The Battle City Kit is designed to accommodate three different formats of game play. Only Konami OTS are permitted to purchase Battle City Kits and host a Battle City tournament.
The Battle City tournaments will be held at select OTS throughout North America. Please contact your local OTS to see if they are participating and for their Battle City tournament schedule and start times. Any OTS can order a Battle City Kit. If your local OTS wishes to host a Battle City Tournament, they are able to order the Battle City Kit directly through Konami.
The registration fee for the Battle City tournament is $12.00 US in the United States ($15.00 CND in Canada). All players entering a Battle City tournament must receive this amount in commensurate prizing. For example, it could be three (3) booster packs, or two (2) Astral Packs and one (1) Battle Pack, etc.
In addition to the product each Duelist receives upon entering the tournament, prize distribution will vary based on which format the OTS decides to host the Battle City tournament.
Each Battle City Kit will accommodate three (3) different formats of game play, which can range from a single event where all prizing is given out at one event, through 4 events where the prizing is broken up over 4 events. The Battle City Kit includes the following prizes:
•1 Battle City Kit exclusivefull size Game Mat
•3 Random Super Rare Tokens, some of which have never been previously released, from a set of 6
•1 Battle City Token Card
At the Tournament Organizer’s discretion and expense, the prizes may be supplemented with additional Yu-Gi-Oh! product or non-branded TCG accessories.
All Battle City tournaments are Tier 1 events conducted as Advanced Format, Constructed Deck, Swiss round events. Each format is Swiss Rounds with no Playoff Top Cut by default. At the Tournament Organizer’s discretion, a Playoff Top Cut may be implemented if advertised prior to the start of the tournament’s registration process. The Battle City tournaments may be conducted as one of three possible formats:
Single Tournament Event
At the end of the Swiss Rounds (or at the end of the final Playoff round), all prizes provided in the Battle City Kit are awarded to the participants. This format will use up one (1) full Battle City Kit per Battle City tournament.
The 1st place Duelist after the final Round of Swiss (or at the end of the final Playoff round), is awarded the Battle City Game Mat.
The 2nd-4th place Duelists after the final Round of Swiss (or at the end of the final Playoff round), are awarded the Battle City Token Cards, with 2nd Place picking first, followed by 3rd Place, then 4th Place.
The Duelist to have shown the best Sportsmanship during the tournament must receive the “Battle City Logo” Token Card (Card # TKN4-EN014).
Weekly Tournament Events
This format is set up to award a single prize to the 1st place winner for the first three (3) weeks of Battle City tournament play, then award the two (2) remaining prizes on the 4th week of tournament play.
This format allows each Battle City Kit to cover a full month of Battle City tournaments.
The 1st Place Duelist after the final Round of Swiss (or at the end of the final Playoff round), during the first week of tournament play will get to choose which one (1) of the three (3) Battle City Token Cards they wish to have as prize.
The 1st Place Duelist after the final Round of Swiss (or at the end of the final Playoff round), during the second week of tournament play will get to choose which one (1) of the remaining (2) Battle City Token Cards they wish as a prize.
The 1st Place Duelist after the final Round of Swiss (or at the end of the final Playoff round), during the third week of tournament play will get to have the remaining Battle City Token Card as a prize.
During the fourth week of tournament play, the 1st Place Duelist after the final Round of Swiss (or at the end of the final Playoff round), will win the Battle City Game Mat. The 2nd Place Duelist after the final Round of Swiss (or at the end of the final Playoff round), will win the “Battle City Logo” Token Card (Card # TKN4-EN014)
League Events
The format for the League event is similar to that of the Weekly Tournament Events listed above with one difference.
Each Duelist that places in the Top 4 rankings in each of the first three (3) weeks’ Battle City tournaments, will be able to enter the 4th week’s Battle City tournament with no entry fee.
