As for the smudge. Technically, it's how the smudge should looks like. Since you're not using any C4Ds or advanced effects, you have few options of how to blend your render properly into your background giving it the best look possible. With this render, and if you have it, you can notice it has 90% white edges appears on both of arms. That is preventing me from using different method of blending the render into the background, leaving me with this method, over blending it. However, there is nothing such as "over-blending" while using Smudging effects. Considering the nature of the render and the background uses, It's the best possible out-come.
Also as a side note: For the past five years I've used any effect you can think of, any C4D you might seen or have, any filter you've experienced before. However, the only thing I haven't used, for the whole 5 years during my experience of using PS, was the Smudge effects. Until a week ago, I didn't know how to smudge, how smudging works, or how to smudge properly without ruining the out-come. It's my third work with smudge effect, so basically I'm a beginner in this sort of effects.
