DA's First Newsletter
This is DA's first newsletter. Basically, every 2 weeks or so we will be posting a newsletter about all the events and information going on in DA. I presented this idea to KingMP94 and he liked it. So he took it up with the admins and agreed on it and here it is. We are assembling a writing team so if you are interested, please PM me and I'll send you an application. But back to the Issue, there will be a few articles and sub articles. Then we have the miscellaneous information about the new members and tournament standings. If you have any suggestions for the team to write about or any interesting events in DA we might of missed, please PM one of us ASAP. So far the writing team is Me, C.C. and Kairi and we are in need of more writers soon. But basically think of the DA's newsletter as an online newspaper. Which means more issues to come so stay tuned.
Problems With The Chat Box
So recently, the chat box here at DA has been causing many problems. Members are making fun of other members, cursing at each other and other vulgar speaking to each other. The admins have responded to this by making new rules and adding more chat box Moderators to help preserve Peace. Now in recent events, there has been a lot of negativity to these new rules and there is a current vote on whether to have them or not. In my opinion I don't mind new rules so long as they don't treat the members like dogs, but also are enforced by trustworthy members of the academy. This action in making these new rules has even gone to such limits as people leaving the academy. Now I don't get why people would do that. It's not like we have no freedom in the chat box. But I can agree with some of the members criticizing the new rules. I have seen in the chat box many Members getting either kicked or banned for doing things that don't deserve that punishment. If it's a joke then it's nothing to worry about. Remember this is online opinions towards each other shouldn't really matter. But if the joke goes to far towards the point where the member staff can't handle it, then it is in need of rule enforcement and an action should take place. The chat box is a place to have fun I understand, but when that fun gets out of control, people need to realize feelings towards one another. It was mainly the reason the new chat box rules were made. I've gathered a few quotes from some members about their feelings towards the recent events and the new rules.
Lexi: "I think that the chat box needs a drastic change, not taken away, just changed. The drama needs to be cut out and the cursing at each other has got to stop."
Danica, The Great: "I don't really care to be honest. They can do whatever they please".
C.C.: "Simply put, there's a lot of disrespect going on, a lot of insulting, which has to stop, no matter who does it to whom, or why they do it".
KingMP94, the member who came up with the idea of the poll for the new rules sent me his quote on the recent incidents and new rules.
"Duel Academy Staff is currently in a heated discussion on what policies to enforce in the chat box. These policies will hopefully calm things down in the chat box, while still allowing members to fool around, and maintain a friendly staff-member relationship".
So we really shouldn't have the chat box be removed or start major hatred towards each other, instead we should just relax and just stop the arguments between us. Joke and troll all you want but you need to realize when enough is enough.
The Upcoming YCS Is Near
It's the biggest tournament in all of DA. 64 or more people join this tournament to find out who is the true number 1 duelist, and it only happens once or twice a year. It is DA's 4th Annual Yu-gi-oh Championship Series. The registration is still going on and if you haven't sent in your deck list, please do so. There is no set date on when the YCS will start so we will get back to you on that. I'm very excited to be participating in such a huge tournament. Many members feel the same also. YCS is several tournament held by Konami and are held anywhere in the world and are usually the tournaments that decide which decks are meta and non-meta. Now my opinion on this years YCS is that it will be a very fun one. This is because of the new decks, meta list and the new skill that has joined DA. Some decks we all know that will be played are Dark Worlds, Elemental HEROS, Geargias and the rest of the meta list. I hope to see some decks that aren't really well noticed but deserve recognition like Psychics, Atlanteans and Firestars. So lets make the 4th YCS a great one readers, because more skill has arrived which means bigger and better duels.A New Admin
This isn't the first time he's been an admin here at DA, but here he is again returning to his admin spot, please welcome KingMP94. He has an interesting view on what rules should be here at DA. He wants more of a democracy feel to DA. I have to agree with him, decisions (not counting promotions) should be made by the members to make a more enjoyable forum. King is a good friend of mine and I respect the things he does with his powers. So I hope and all of you should hope that he does a good job in his admin spot, to make a more enjoyable forum for all of us.
